TEL-ME-MOR at the CENL Open Forum

The 19th annual meeting of the Foundation Conference of European National Librarians (CENL) will take place from 29 September to 1 October 2005 in Luxembourg City. Before the official start of the meeting there will be an Open Forum in the afternoon of 28 September where TEL-ME-MOR is presented and introduced to CENL members and other interested parties. General overview of the project will be given by project managers Monika Segbert and David Fuegi. Every work package leader will speak about past, present and future activities conducted under his/her work package.

The Open Forum is preceded by TEL-ME-MOR Management Board meeting in the morning of 28 September, 2005.

TEL-ME-MOR at the 9th ILDS Conference

9th IFLA Interlending and Document Supply (ILDS) International Conference will take place in the National Library of Estonia , Tallinn , on 20-23 September. The conference will focus on interlibrary loan and document delivery as the means helping the world to become more unified, develop mutual understanding and create equal opportunities for all those needing information. This is the area best reflecting the possibilities and results of co-operation between libraries and librarians.

TEL-ME-MOR will be present at the event, having a stand in the exhibition area of the conference. In addition to the stand the project team will present TEL-ME-MOR website and distribute information materials on the project and European opportunities. All participants are welcome to visit us and ask questions.

TEL-ME-MOR workshop in the Netherlands

TEL-ME-MOR partners will meet in the Hague on 22-23 September to discuss issues regarding the integration of collections from the national libraries of the New Member States and to share the expertise and experience of the older member states. Activities are organised into workgroups dealing with SRU and local z39.50 implementation, preparing metadata to conform to the TEL Application Profile and collection descriptions.

The event will be organised in conjunction with the Technical Working Group of The European Library by The European Library Office at the National Library of the Netherlands.

Implementation plans for NMS libraries

The European Library Office has started to prepare implementation plans for all national libraries of the New Member States (NMS) willing to join The European Library service and consortium in the framework of TEL-ME-MOR project. The implementation plans are based on the data submitted by TEL-ME-MOR partners and contain information on collections to be integrated into The European Library as well as on metadata and data exchange standards used by the libraries. Calendar plans for including those collections in The European Library is also an integral part of the documents. Most national libraries from the New Member States will join in year 2006. Implementation plans will be reviewed and discussed during the knowledge sharing workshop in the Hague, 22-23 September 2005.
